Refrigerant Duty

Evaporator, condenser, economizer, desuperheater and suction line duty - five jobs that look similar on a schematic and place very different demands on the plate pack.

Refrigerant on one side makes the exchanger part of the circuit. Pick the role the unit plays to see which frames fit it and what tends to go wrong on first start.

Refrigerant Duty Is Where Plate Geometry Earns Its Keep

Distribution Decides the Evaporator

A flooded channel transfers heat; a starved one is dead surface. The F, P and V evaporator variants exist because refrigerant has to be metered into every channel, not just the first few - and the distributor at the inlet is what separates them from the plain frame they are built on.

Condensing duty is more forgiving, which is why the single-phase frames carry it directly.

Charge and Pressure Class Frame the Choice

A2L and A3 refrigerants bring charge limits in kilograms, and transcritical CO2 brings 140 bar. Between the asymmetric packs, the AsyMatrix builds and the U pressure class, the range answers both - but the refrigerant has to be on the enquiry for any of it to be quoted right.
