SIZING & SELECTION
Everything on these pages exists to answer two situations. You have a duty - flows, temperatures, fluids - and need the frame, the plate count and the pressure class. Or you have a failed unit and a nameplate, and need the same thing faster.
The four sections cover how a selection is made, what the units are built from, how to read any SWEP designation, and what keeps a correct selection correct after installation.
Either route ends the same way: a quote that names an exact configuration, not 'a unit like this one'.
Request a QuoteFlows, temperatures in and out, the fluids by name and the pressure drop you can afford. Those four lines select the frame better than any catalogue browse, and they are all a quote needs to come back priced.
The Selecting a Unit pages cover approach temperture, plate count, pressure drop and glycol - the four levers that move every selection.
A SWEP designation is fully decodable, and the model number guide walks through every field. A competitor nameplate works too - the cross-reference page covers the common brands.
Partial strings are fine. Send what the nameplate still shows.
Copper braze, nickel braze, All-Stainless and SMO 254 exist because different fluids destroy different things. The Construction and Ratings pages carry the logic, the pressure classes and the approvals.
If the fluid list includes ammonia, deionized water or chlorides, start there.
Mounting, piping loads, strainers, cleaning provisions and freeze protection are what keep a correct selection correct. The Installation and Service pages cover them.
