Commercial plant scale - chiller circuits, heat recovery and the larger domestic hot water stations, including the copper-free frames for ammonia and pure water.
At these flows the pump matters as much as the exchanger. Two frames in the band may both pass the flow, yet one does it at a pressure drop the pump cannot spare. So compare them on channel volume and on the highest plate count each accepts, and check the construction against the fluid - on larger frames the material code can read NSC, which is 316 channel plates with 304 cover plates.
The maximum flow published for a frame marks where the ports run out; it says nothing about the thermal duty. Adding plates to a mid-size frame is often the cheaper route to a close approach temperature than jumping to the next frame, and it lowers the pumping cost too. If the duty falls near either end of the band, look at the adjacent band as well. With the duty and the fluids in hand we return the frame, the plate count and the class letter.

This band is where the dedicated evaporators and the first True Dual models appear. The pages below cover each one separately, with its own dimensions and part numbers.
