The SWEP F85 is a copper-brazed plate heat exchanger on the 85 platform, with 316 stainless channel plates and 304 cover plates. SWEP positions it for high-performance condensers and other demanding heat transfer duties, with large ports and a shallower pressing depth than earlier generations.
Up to 100 plates on a narrow footprint. The F85 measures 524 x 117 mm (20.63 x 4.61 in), builds up to 100 plates and has a published maximum flow of 17 m3/h (74.85 GPM).
Close to a B85 in size, but a different model. The F85 and the F85AS are 524 x 117 mm; the B85 and B85S are 526 x 119 mm, and all four carry the same 74.85 GPM ceiling. The F85AS adds AsyMatrix asymmetric channels on the F85 outline, and the B85S is the copper-free All-Stainless build. The common mistake is reading the AS in F85AS as All-Stainless - it is not, and anyone needing a copper-free unit for ammonia or pure water wants the B85S, not either F model.
316 channel plates, 304 covers, copper braze. Catalogued connections are threaded, solder and combo, where a combo connection accepts two joining methods or sizes. The published approvals are PED, UL and KHK.
Reading the designation. A F85 is ordered as a full string. The model number guide decodes each field, and the string off the nameplate - whole or partial - is enough to confirm the build.
Best used as a compact, high-performance refrigerant condenser where approach temperature matters.

The F85 measures 524 x 117 mm (20.63 x 4.61 in) over the plate pack, with port centres of 470 x 63 mm (18.5 x 2.48 in). Connections on the catalogued builds: Threaded, Solder, Combo.
SWEP publishes the weight as 1.58 kg plus 0.1492 kg per plate, so the plate count off the nameplate sets what the mounting has to carry.
On an F85 the port centres and the connection type on each port have to match the old unit, along with the plate count, since depth grows with every plate and moves the back of the unit toward whatever sits behind it. Check the model prefix as well: the neighbouring 85-frame models are near enough in outline to be mistaken for this one. Where the old unit has combo connections, note which joining method the installer actually used.
