The SWEP PI190 is a single-circuit evaporator for air-cooled and water-cooled reversible chillers running low-GWP refrigerants. SWEP publishes it for 60 to 150 kW, with a next-generation AsyMatrix plate pattern that raises thermal performance while cutting water-side pressure drop and refrigerant charge.
A mid-size frame sized for reversible chillers. The PI190 measures 524.5 x 202 mm (20.65 x 7.95 in) with port centres at 460 x 136 mm, takes up to 140 plates and has a published maximum flow of 28 m3/h (123.28 GPM).
The PI190 and FI190 cannot be told apart by tape measure. Both have the same 524.5 x 202 mm outline, the same 123.28 GPM ceiling and the same plate and braze materials; the PI190 is the evaporator build. Its AsyMatrix channels are asymmetric - SWEP publishes channel volumes of 0.149 and 0.172 liters for the two sides - so the refrigerant and water circuits are not interchangeable. The selection mistake is ordering by frame size, or piping the unit with the circuits swapped, which costs capacity and raises water-side pressure drop without any visible fault.
316 channel plates, 304 cover plates, copper braze. SWEP publishes threaded, Victaulic and solder connections for the PI190, with PED, UL and KHK approvals. The example designation is PI190H/1P-NSC-H, NSC being the code for 316 channel plates with 304 cover plates and copper braze.
Ordering by the string. Quote a PI190 by its full designation rather than by the model alone - the fields after the model set the plates, materials, pressure class and connections. See the model number guide.
Best as the evaporator in a 60 to 150 kW reversible chiller charged with a low-GWP refrigerant.

The PI190 measures 524.5 x 202 mm (20.65 x 7.95 in) over the plate pack, with port centres of 460 x 136 mm (18.11 x 5.35 in). Connections on the catalogued builds: Threaded, Victaulic, Solder.
SWEP publishes the weight as 6.45 kg plus 0.289 kg per plate, so the plate count off the nameplate sets what the mounting has to carry.
The outline and port centres have to match, and so do the connection type and size on both the refrigerant and the water ports. Depth grows with plate count, so confirm the plate count before assuming the unit sits the same in its bracket. Because the two channel sides are different, each circuit has to go back on the ports it came off.
