The SWEP F80 is a brazed plate evaporator on the 80 frame, built with 304 stainless plates and copper braze. SWEP optimized it for higher heat flux when evaporating refrigerant in high-efficiency chillers and heat pumps.
A tall, narrow plate with a 140-plate ceiling. The F80 measures 526 x 119 mm (20.71 x 4.69 in), builds up to 140 plates and has a published maximum flow of 16.9 m3/h (74.41 GPM).
Four other models share this exact outline. The B80, P80, V80 and B80S are all 526 x 119 mm, so a tape measure cannot tell them from an F80. The F80 is the high-performance evaporator in 304 plate; the P80 is the chiller evaporator in 316/316L, the V80 is the general-purpose evaporator, and the B80S is the copper-free All-Stainless build. The mistake is ordering by footprint and flow - read the letter prefix and the material code off the nameplate and quote that, because the prefix, not the outline, says what the unit was built to do.
304 plate, copper braze, four connection styles. SWEP catalogues the F80 with threaded, Threaded Ultra High Approved, Victaulic and solder connections. Plates are 304 stainless steel with copper brazing, and the published approvals are PED, UL and KHK.
Reading the designation. A F80 is ordered as a full string, for example F80x80. The model number guide decodes each field, and the string off the nameplate - whole or partial - is enough to confirm the build.
The F80 measures 526 x 119 mm (20.71 x 4.69 in) over the plate pack, with port centres of 470 x 63 mm (18.5 x 2.48 in). Connections on the catalogued builds: Threaded, Threaded Ultra High Approved, Victaulic, Solder.
SWEP publishes the weight as 2.09 kg plus 0.164 kg per plate, so the plate count off the nameplate sets what the mounting has to carry.
Outside dimensions settle very little on this frame, because several models share them. Match the port centres, the connection type and size on each of the four ports, and the plate count - depth grows with every plate added, so a higher-count replacement needs room behind it and may need the piping moved. Confirm the model prefix and the material code on the nameplate before anything else.
