The SWEP DS400, now designated DSD400, is a True Dual evaporator: two refrigerant circuits in one copper-brazed plate pack. SWEP publishes it for flexible chillers and climate control, where a machine with two compressor circuits chills one water loop.
The DS400 keeps the 694 x 304 mm footprint of the B400T family. It measures 694 x 304 mm (27.32 x 11.97 in) and is built with up to 282 plates. Published maximum flow is 76 m3/h (about 335 GPM).
The D in the code is the part that matters. The S400T, P400T and V400T share the 694 x 304 mm footprint but are not True Dual models; the DS400 carries two refrigerant circuits. Among the True Dual siblings, the DB400 is the condenser, the DP400 is the evaporator optimized for high performance, and the DV400 is a seperate evaporator model. The mistake is ordering by footprint alone: a unit without the D fits the same space and leaves the second compressor circuit with nowhere to connect.
Copper-brazed 316/316L stainless steel. Plates are 316/316L stainless steel joined with copper braze. SWEP publishes threaded, Victaulic, solder, flange and weld connections for this model.
Reading the designation. A DS400 is ordered as a full string, for example DS400x140. The model number guide decodes each field, and the string off the nameplate - whole or partial - is enough to confirm the build.
The DS400 measures 694 x 304 mm (27.32 x 11.97 in) over the plate pack, with port centres of 604 x 216 mm (23.78 x 8.50 in). Connections on the catalogued builds: Threaded, Victaulic, Solder, Flange, Weld.
SWEP publishes the weight as 11.60 kg plus 0.65 kg per plate, so the plate count off the nameplate sets what the mounting has to carry.
On a DS400 the footprint is only the start. The port centres must match the existing pipework, and each of the two refrigerant circuits has to land on a connection of the same type and size as the unit coming out. Depth grows with plate count, so a replacement with more plates than the original needs clearance behind it and longer support.
