The SWEP S400T is one of SWEP's evaporators on the B400T frame, intended for high capacities in demanding chiller applications where the exchanger has to stay compact.
Up to 280 plates on a 694 x 304 mm frame. The S400T is 694 x 304 mm (27.32 x 11.97 in) with port centres of 601 x 205.5 mm and a maximum of 280 plates. Published max flow is 365.44 GPM (83 m3/h).
S, P and V are three different evaporators on one frame. The S400T has the same outline, plate steel, braze and 365.44 GPM ceiling as the B400T, P400T and V400T. SWEP positions the S400T for high capacities in demanding chillers, while the P400T is described by its long-thermal-length plate pattern. The selection mistake is treating whichever 400T is to hand as equivalent, or confusing the S400T with the True Dual DS400, which carries a lower 334.62 GPM max flow. Order by the designation on the nameplate, letter for letter.
Six connection styles, one material set. Published connection styles are threaded, Victaulic, solder, flange, solder coned and weld. Plates are 316/316L stainless steel with copper braze (material code SC), and the listed approvals are PED, UL and KHK.
Ordering by the string. Quote a S400T by its full designation rather than by the model alone - the fields after the model set the plates, materials, pressure class and connections. See the model number guide.
Best as the evaporator in a large single-circuit chiller where capacity per footprint is the constraint.

The S400T measures 694 x 304 mm (27.32 x 11.97 in) over the plate pack, with port centres of 601 x 205.5 mm (23.66 x 8.09 in). Connections on the catalogued builds: Threaded, Victaulic, Solder, Flange, Solder Coned, Weld.
SWEP publishes the weight as 15.43 kg plus 0.7 kg per plate, so the plate count off the nameplate sets what the mounting has to carry.
Every 400T model shares this outline, so a matching outline proves nothing about the model. Check the port centres against the pipework and the connection style on each port - flanged, grooved, soldered and welded versions all exist, and connections on a brazed unit cannot be changed afterwards. The pack depth grows with plate count and decides wether the back of the unit clears the cabinet.
