The SWEP DP400 is a True Dual evaporator optimized for high performance, serving flexible chillers and climate control. Two refrigerant circuits chill a single water stream of up to 334.62 GPM.
The performance-optimized evaporator of the 400 dual family. The DP400 measures 694 x 304 mm (27.32 x 11.97 in), is built with up to 282 plates and has a published maximum flow of 76 m3/h (334.62 GPM).
There are three True Dual evaporators on this footprint. The DP400, DS400 and DV400 all measure 694 x 304 mm with 316/316L plates, copper braze and a 334.62 GPM ceiling; the DP400 is the one SWEP describes as optimized for high performance. The DB400 on the same footprint is the condenser. Because the outside of the unit gives nothing away, the mistake is ordering "the 400 dual evaporator" without the letter. Quote the designation exactly as stamped. The DP400 is now designated DPD400.
SC material and class M on file. The DP400 has 316/316L plates and copper braze, with threaded, Victaulic, solder, flange and weld connections catalogued. The configuration on file is material code SC, pressure class M, with 22U and 42U solder connections, 1/2" internal thread ports and two 2 1/2" water connections.
What the nameplate tells us. Every DP400 carries its build in the designation, for example DP400x140: plate type, plate count, pass arrangement, materials and pressure class. The model number guide walks through the fields.
Best used as the evaporator of a larger two-circuit chiller where performance is the priority.

The DP400 measures 694 x 304 mm (27.32 x 11.97 in) over the plate pack, with port centres of 604 x 216 mm (23.78 x 8.50 in). Connections on the catalogued builds: Threaded, Victaulic, Solder, Flange, Weld.
SWEP publishes the weight as 11.60 kg plus 0.65 kg per plate, so the plate count off the nameplate sets what the mounting has to carry.
On a DP400 the port centres and the full connection set have to match: solder sizes on each refrigerant circuit, any small threaded ports, and the water connections. Check the model letter too, since the DS400 and DV400 share the footprint. Depth grows with plate count, so measure the space behind the unit.
