SWEP F200T Brazed Plate Heat Exchangers

Higher Flow, Solder Connections Only

The SWEP F200T is a high-performance evaporator on the 200T frame, with 304 stainless plates and copper braze. It pairs a long thermal length plate pattern with a higher flow ceiling than the 120T models, for chiller and heat pump evaporators and economizers.

A 250-plate ceiling and a 192 GPM port limit. The F200T measures 525 x 243 mm (20.67 x 9.57 in), builds up to 250 plates and has a published maximum flow of 43.7 m3/h (192.41 GPM).

Seven models occupy this footprint. The B200T, V200T and P200T are single models at the same 192.41 GPM; the DB200, DP200 and DV200 are True Dual condensers and evaporators at 118.88 GPM, all on a 525 x 243 mm plate. A True Dual unit is a different product from an F200T and neither replaces the other. Among the single models, the F200T is catalogued with solder connections only, so a designation showing threaded or grooved ports is pointing at one of its siblings.

304 plate, copper braze, solder connections. SWEP catalogues the F200T with solder connections. Plates are 304 stainless steel with copper brazing, and the published approvals are PED, UL and KHK.

Ordering by the string. Quote a F200T by its full designation, for example F200Tx140 rather than by the model alone - the fields after the model set the plates, materials, pressure class and connections. See the model number guide.

Confirming Fit on a F200T Replacement

The F200T measures 525 x 243 mm (20.67 x 9.57 in) over the plate pack, with port centres of 448.5 x 163.5 mm (17.66 x 6.44 in). Connections on the catalogued builds: Solder.

SWEP publishes the weight as 9.45 kg plus 0.42 kg per plate, so the plate count off the nameplate sets what the mounting has to carry.

The footprint is common to a whole family, so it proves little. On an F200T the port centres have to match - they are not the same as on every model that shares the outline - along with the solder connection size on each port and the plate count, which sets depth and weight. Check how the old unit was supported, since the replacement needs the same bracket or stand.

Before You Order a F200T

Plate material and catalogued purpose, not size or flow. All four are 525 x 243 mm with a 192.41 GPM ceiling. The F200T and P200T use 304 stainless plates; the B200T uses 316/316L; the V200T uses 316 channel plates with 304 cover plates. All are copper brazed.

The F200T and P200T are both described as high-performance evaporators with long thermal length, and the V200T as an evaporator optimized across many refrigerants. Since the published data does not make them interchangeable, replace like for like: quote the prefix on the nameplate. If the water is hard on 304, tell us and we will confirm whether a 316 sibling suits the same position.

SWEP's formula is 9.45 kg plus 0.42 kg per plate (20.84 lb plus 0.926 lb per plate). A 50-plate unit comes to about 30 kg (67 lb); a full 250-plate unit to about 114 kg (252 lb), before the refrigerant and water inside it.

At those weights the unit needs a floor stand or a support bracket under the plate pack, with the load taken by the cover plates. Solder connections in particular must carry nothing: a brazed joint on copper tube is not a structural member, and a unit hung from its piping will eventually crack a joint. Plan the lift before the old unit comes out.

It is the letter after the material code. In SWEP's example, F200TH/1P-NC-S, NC is 304 plate with copper braze and S is the pressure class. S is the general class - 31 bar at 155 C - used across a wide variety of applications.

Treat that as a category, not the rating of the unit in front of you; the stamped figures on the nameplate govern. The point to check on a replacement is that the new unit's class is not lower than the old one's. A high-pressure refrigerant circuit may have been built with an M-class unit, up to 45 bar at 135 C and fatigue tested, and an S-class unit is not a substitute there. Pressure Classes lists the letters.

Because it sets how much refrigerant the evaporator holds. SWEP publishes a channel volume of 0.241 for each side of the F200T; multiply by the number of channels on the refrigerant side and you have the internal volume the charge has to fill.

That matters in two places. On charge-limited systems - flammable or high-cost refrigerants - the evaporator's hold-up is part of the charge calculation, and adding plates adds volume. On the water side, low hold-up means the unit responds quickly to load changes, which is good for control but leaves little thermal mass to ride through a flow interruption. A brazed evaporator reaches freezing conditions faster than a shell-and-tube with the same duty.

Chemically, with the unit in place. Isolate the fouled side, connect a circulation pump and tank, and run the cleaning solution backward through the channels so loosened deposits leave the way they came in. Flush until clear and neutralize before returning to service.

Choose a cleaner compatible with 304 stainless and copper braze, and avoid chloride-bearing acids: 304 is the less forgiving of the stainless grades where chlorides are concerned. Fit isolation valves and cleaning tees when the new unit goes in, because retrofitting them later means cutting soldered lines.

Start with what can be measured: a 525 x 243 mm outline with port centres of 448.5 x 163.5 mm (17.66 x 6.44 in) and solder connections on every port. The port centres are the useful figure, because other models share the outline.

Then count the plates along the edge of the pack and note each connection size. A stamped article number sometimes survives on the cover plate when the label does not. What measurement cannot tell you is the plate material or the pressure class, so pass along what the unit does - the refrigerant, the operating pressures, the machine it came from - and we will confirm the designation from the duty.

For a replacement, the full designation from the nameplate and the SWEP article number if present. Together they fix the plate count, pass arrangement, material, pressure class and connections, and nothing else is required.

Without a complete nameplate, send the plate count, the four connection sizes, the refrigerant, and a photo of the unit installed. For a new selection we need the duty instead: both fluids, flow rates, inlet and outlet temperatures, evaporating temperature, and the allowable water-side pressure drop. Say so if the loop runs on glycol, with the concentration. Availability is confirmed with the quote - Request a Quote takes all of it in one form.
